That sounds simple and yet it is so much more. Because Anna reduces the kitchen to its essentials: fresh ingredients, honest craftsmanship and soul, that is, the combination of feeling, spirit and experience that seeks perfection and wants to find its expression in personal handwriting.

Anna derives her joy from the discovery of only supposed little things. She does not want to keep inventing seemingly new wheels. It is not a kitchen of large, loud gestures that she leads, but one in knowledge, in humility and respect at the sensitive interfaces of human and product. 

An always happy union, where recognizable ingredients adorn the plates, nourish their guests healthy and give them great pleasure.

That's the short form and it sounds like chaos. A distillation of sixty years of wild life that reads as an unflinching quest. Upright and unruly. For truth and authenticity. For the roots and their timeless interpretation.

 

The restaurant itself is located in the middle of Pöseldorf, a well-mixed Hanseatic quarter with an exciting history between car repair shop and Gunter Sachs, beer tavern and Andy Warhol. Very close to the western Alster meadows in an old half-timbered house from 1897, renovated in 2013 and that fits perfectly into the architectural picture of the naturally grown milky way. In the "Anna Sgroi" one has understood to combine authentically old and modern elements with a lot of tact, to let a harmonious as well as natural whole emerge, which comes across as quite unusual, because it presents itself at the same time so casually as well as obligingly. Above all, however, it is always credible. And thus it fits in perfectly with the holistic philosophy and aspirations of the house.

The restaurant is divided into four areas, where the ornamental tiled entrance is the interface between the dining rooms in the intimate veranda, the spacious main room with the beautiful original floorboards and the terrace area, slightly elevated from the street, under the old yew tree and the handmade maritime sails for summer shading. Inside and outside there are fifty and thirty seats respectively, which can be enlarged by arrangement for any event.

The Anna Sgroi is a house of character. From the cubature to the menu, from the kitchen to the table. Here, every superfluous flourish is omitted with a persistent focus on the essence of all the ingredients and their interaction. Always concentrating on the essentials. That is what it is all about. No more, but certainly no less.
